Website Security
I would like to secure my website so that hackers wont be able to break in
What would an hour of downtime mean for your company? A day? A week? What about the loss or compromise of all your data?
Unfortunately, this situation is encountered by countless businesses every day as website hackers break in to steal their data or plant malware and other viruses that infect their unsuspecting clients. Not only does this cause lost sales during the downtime and costly recovery or even redevelopment of your website, but the public knowledge that your company failed to secure its customer’s data or infected their computers with a virus is hard to overcome. Not to mention the drop in search engine ranking when Google finds out that your site is distributing malware.
While it is almost impossible to prevent a top hacker from breaking into a complex website (if there is a will there is a way), you can protect yourself and make it extremely difficult for even the experienced hacker to break in to your site.
Let’s explain very simply how the majority of websites get hacked:
- An experienced hacker discovers a flaw in a piece of code in your content management system (usually a very widely used system – the reason Windows is usually attacked), or a flaw in a common coding practice that applies to very many websites (even custom built systems)
- They may exploit a few key websites for profit and then post about their find in a hacking forum
- “Newbie” hackers read about their exploit and then do a simple search for “Content Management System Version X.X” or another keyword that exposes vulnerable websites and are presented with a list of potential targets – right from the search engines!
- They click onto your website from the search engine results and run the exploit to break in and cause harm
A minority of websites get hacked, even if they are very secure, because top hackers or teams of hackers spend days or sometimes even weeks and months searching for ways to break in. Obviously, there has to be a big payday in it for hackers to spend this amount of time and energy and that is why big sites like Groupon, Amazon, etc. get hacked even though they undoubtedly have spent hundreds of thousands of dollars on security.
Our security scanning packages are geared toward the most present danger for all small to medium sized businesses: the reason most websites get hacked. Our goal is to provide you with affordable but top quality security that will protect you where you need to be protected.
We scan for all known vulnerabilities each month and manually check key areas of your website for potential points of entry. We also check whether your website already has a virus that you may be unaware of that may be affecting your clients or impairing your search engine ranking.
After each scan, if action needs to be taken to protect your business we will contact you and discuss what needs to be done for you to stay safe immediately.
