Q: Who owns the awesome designs you created for me? Can I use them wherever and however I want?
A: You do, and absolutely! Upon final payment we transfer all copyrights to you. You can use, distribute, or modify the designs in any way you choose. We reserve the right to show the work in our portfolio or other marketing materials unless otherwise decided in writing.
Q: I own a design company and would like you to do design work for us. Will you keep our relationship private?
A: We work with many design and other IT companies who shall remain nameless, simply because this was self-understood. However, please discuss this with us to avoid any misunderstanding.
Q: Are your designs custom or from a template?
A: All of our designs are completely custom unless otherwise discussed (for budgetary reasons). Previously we only did custom work but we found that some start-ups, or small businesses on a tight budget, could not afford a completely custom solution, so we now offer template branding and customization in addition to our regular offerings. A custom and unique solution is still the recommended course of action, but we’re happy to be able to help smaller companies make their mark as well.
Q: How many rounds of revisions will you provide?
A: We make sure that you’re happy before signing off any project. As long as the original requirements stay the same and clear progress is being made toward a goal, we’ll keep going until you’re happy. This policy is not intended to see as many options as possible before deciding, it is intended to serve well intending clients and to provide you with quality work. We reserve the right to limit revisions if we feel this policy is being abused.
Q: What formats do you provide my design in?
A: We provide your design in probably every format you’ll ever need, including AI, EPS, PDF, JPG and PNG. If you do need it in any other format either now or in the future, just ask!
Q: What are all these file formats you gave me for?
A: Some formats are used for the web (i.e. JPG and PNG), while the rest are used for printing (i.e. AI, EPS, and PDF). Different print shops like different formats, so we provide you with all those that you’ll probably ever need.
The print formats are also the source files, so they can be imported into a graphic editing program to export them into different web sizes, other formats, or even to make changes (e.g. add information for a new employee to your business card).
Q: Do you design items not listed in your services?
A: Absolutely! We design everything from custom animations, to packaging, to products, to decals, to post-cards, to…
Q: Why do you want to know my budget?
A: Some things affected by budget are:
- Number of concepts
- Seniority of designer
- User experience (UX)
- Number/quality of features
- Degree of customization
- Planning and research
If we know your budget, we’ll be able to tailor our proposal to meet your needs and better serve you.
Q: I have a tight budget, can you still help me?
A: There are options such as using a template over a completely custom design, fewer concepts, etc. If we can help you make it work, we will. The best best is to contact us with your budget and your needs and we’ll try to recommend a solution that fits.
Q: What methods of payment do you accept?
A: We accept cash, cheque, Interac Email Money Transfer (from your online banking website), credit card, and PayPal.
Q: Do you have a physical location?
A: Digital Lion runs a virtual office. Read more about it and our other values here.
Q: What sort of up-time does your environmentally friendly hosting provide?
A: We average approximately 99.995% up-time.
Q: Do you build Flash websites?
A: Not anymore, and neither should you! Flash is outdated. More than that, it is bad for your search engine ranking and it is not supported by many popular mobile devices. If you’re really considering Flash, contact us to discuss. There are much better options (and you can still have a cool website!).
