CALGARY, ALBERTA, CANADA – November 14th, 2019 – One of the most important things that contributes to people being successful and well-adjusted in life is ensuring that they have a healthy childhood. One local web and graphic design and development company is making it their mission to help with those efforts. Each year, Digital Lion chooses a different charity to donate 10% of their profits to for the year. This year, they will be making the donation to Child Development Institute (CDI), located in Toronto, helping to support the organization’s mission of providing a range of services to children and families in need.
“Our youth are the future, which makes it essential that we care for their well being and help ensure they get a good foundation,” explains Ryan Levin, president of Digital Lion. “When we focus on helping to develop in a healthy way, we are in turn ensuring that our country will have a strong foundation in the future.”
CDI is an accredited children’s mental health agency that provides families with a wide range of services, giving them the support that they need to thrive. The programs they offer are typically free of charge, with the costs being covered by direct donations and government grants.
Programs offered through CDI include those for all children under the age of 18, and their families. They offer group programs, shelter services, substance abuse programs, clinical services, workshops, school based programs, early intervention, family violence services, and more. The organization has a lengthy history of providing the community with services that support healthy child development.
CDI also offers an internationally recognized intervention program for children under the age of 12, called SNAP, which stands for “stop now and plan.” The program focuses on teaching kids emotion regulation, problem solving and self control, and teaches those who have behavior problems how to make better choices. Approximately 15,000 children under the age of 12 in Toronto experience serious mental health issues. It’s estimated that around 14% of all children across Canada experience mental health issues.
“We are happy to make our yearly donation to Child Development Institute this year,” added Levin. “Our mission as a company is to Design a Better World®, and when we help the most vulnerable among us, the children, it supports that mission. Children who get a good start will be more likely to go to go on to being contributing adults who are problem solvers.”
